John Michael Romp, age 72, of San Angelo, Texas passed away on Tuesday October 2, 2018. John was born June 15, 1946 in Webster City, Iowa to Joyce Kolling and Glenn Romp.

John graduated from Randall High School of Randall, Iowa, he then would go on to serve our country in the Army in Vietnam. He would be presented several awards for his dedicated service to his country. Upon returning from his service he would meet the love of his life, Betty McEwen, they would marry in 1969 and continue their journey to raising a family together until her passing in 2006.

While their family was growing John loved to take the family bowling together and go on camping trips together in Iowa. He enjoyed playing pool and working on cars in his spare time that he did not spend with his loving family.

John is survived by; daughter Rachel (Trey) Strother of San Angelo, Texas; son Matthew (Christina) Romp of Webster City, Iowa and son Timothy Romp of San Angelo, Texas; brothers Wayne Romp of Stanhope, Iowa, Donald (Martin Rubino) Romp of Adelanto, California and sister Geneva (Gale) Price of Altoona, Iowa; grandchildren Brianna Strother, John Michael Strother, Hope Romp, Lily Romp, Isabella Romp and Locklind Westberg.

John was preceded in death by his wife Betty Romp; father Glenn Romp and mother Joyce Kolling; brother Cliff Romp and sister Gleneva (Duane) Skinner.

A visitation for John will be held Friday, October 12, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will occur Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Greer Willis presiding over the service. A private family graveside service will be held at Johnson's Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens at a later date.
