Donna Swanson, 87, of Webster City, died Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at Riverside North in Ames. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 14 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Mike Kroona officiating. Burial will be in Kiron Cemetery in Kiron, Iowa. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sunday.

Donna Mae Goetsch, daughter of Glen and Esther Carlson Goetsch, was born October 2, 1926 in Kiron, Iowa. She graduated from Kiron High School in 1944. She received her degree from AIB secretarial school. She worked at Standard Oil in Des Moines for 2 years. She married Gage Donnelly Swanson on October 5, 1947 in Denver, CO. The couple lived and farmed in Kiron until 1953, when they moved to Urbandale and then Ankeny. On January 15, 1966 they moved to Webster City. Gage and Donna owned the Flamingo Motel and a little later Brown's Cafe for 10 yers. She worked at the Hamilton County Hospital from 1976 to 1991, when she retired from full time work. Donna then worked in Radiology part-time for 12 years until 2005. She volunteered in the Hospital Gift Shop for several years until they moved to the new hospital.

Donna is survived by children, Pam Lilja of Waukee, Peggy (Doyle) Jobe of Ames and Paul Swanson of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, David (Jodi) Driscoll Jr. of Waukee, Allison (JD) Reich of Ames and Nathan Jobe of Nashville; great-grandchildren, Colin Driscoll, Avery Driscoll, Jack Reich and Charlie Reich and brother, Denny (Janice) Goetsch of Chariton.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Dale and Darrell Goetsch and her sister, Dorothy Heiny and son-in-law Rob Lilja.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, a Past President and Treasurer of the Webster City Women's Club, a member of the Town and Country Garden Club and a Senior Regent of the Women of the Moose Lodge.
