BOONE – Ryan Eugene Carlson, age 32, of Boone, passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 in an accident near Stratford.

Friends may call from 4-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boone. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boone. Burial will be in the South Marion Cemetery near Stratford.

Born on July 6, 1987, at the Boone County Hospital in Boone, Iowa, Ryan was the son of Raymond and Brenda (Haman) Carlson. He graduated from Webster City High School in 2005. Following high school, he attended Iowa State University and graduated in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in Agronomy. While studying in Denmark, Ryan met Natalie McCollough, and the two were united in marriage on August 4, 2012 at Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia, Iowa.

Ryan worked for Ag Leader Technology for the past eight years as a Tech Support Supervisor. He had a love for the farm and working with his family in the field. Ryan always looked forward to fall harvest and the opportunity to be in the tractor. He also had an extensive toy tractor collection. Ryan and Natalie started a cow-calf operation, of which he was very proud.

Ryan was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed deer and pheasant hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling with the Team Iowa Snowmobilers Club. Ryan was a strong family man, and treasured his two young children, Taryn and Rhett. Ryan also had many friends who will miss him dearly. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Ryan is survived by his wife, Natalie of Boone; children, Taryn and Rhett at home; his parents, Raymond and Brenda Carlson of Stratford; his siblings, Austin (Kaley) Carlson of Stratford and Alisha (Cord) Deakman and their son, Cooper of Boone; his father and mother-in-law, Steve and Connie McCollough of Vail; sisters-in-law, Stephanie (Brad) Hinners and their four children of Arcadia and Stacie (Scot) Muhlbauer and their four children of Arcadia; a brother-in-law, Bradley (Tami) McCollough and their five children of Vail; grandmothers, Linda Arnold of Stratford and Violet Carlson of Stratford; grandparents-in-law, Gene and Phyllis Kuhl and Jeanette McCollough; and many cousins, aunts, uncles and extended relatives.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Dale Carlson and James Haman; his grandfather-in-law, Clyde McCollough; and a nephew, Jake Muhlbauer.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at 6th and Marshall in Boone, and online condolences may be left at www.schroedermemorialchapel.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Carlson Kids Benefit Account in care of Community State Bank, P.O. Box 217, Paton, Iowa 50217.
