Mrs. P.J. Peterson passed away to her reward Sunday morning, Aug. 22, 1909, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C.A. Swanson, three miles south of Stratford, at the age of 81 years.

Deceased was born in Skone, Sweden, July 6, 1828, came to America in 1863. Was united in marriage to P.J. Peterson March 20, 1866 and moved immediately to their farm in Marion township at which place she has since resided with the exception of the years of 74 to 78, when her husband had charge of a church first at Sheldahl and later at New Sweden. After the death of her husband six years ago, she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Swanson. She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Emma Strand of Stratford, Mrs. Addie Swanson of South Marion and one son, J.L. Peterson, of Webster City, who were all with her during the last days of her life. Besides the three children she leaves one step daughter, Mrs. Sarah Castille, of Norman, Oklahoma, seven grandchildren and a host of friends. She has been a conscientious Christian from childhood and united with the Swedish M.E. Church in the 1860s and has been a faithful member until the time of her death. Her sickness was only of about a weeks duration and as her body strength failed her, faith in the Saviour became stronger and her home in Heaven more dear to her desire, as she herself expressed it, was to go home to Jesus. Shortly before she passed away she reported the passage of scripture found in Romans 8th chapter and 18th verse.

The funeral was held at the home and at the South Marion M.E. church Tuesday, conducted by her pastor, Rev. O.R. Palm, who spoke from the text found in Romans 8:18 after which the remains were laid away by the side of those of her husband in the South Marion cemetery.

She will be missed by relatives and a host of friends, but she will be especially missed in the home where she has lived, but may the influence of her faith in her Redeemer bring us all nearer to Jesus than ever before. We shall meet again in a home far better than this.
