OBITUARY

ALEXANDER PETERSON

Deceased was born in Hom Socken, Östergötland, Linköpings Län, Sweden in January 26, 1825. He was married in 1851 to Anna Louisa Gustafson, who died March 2, 1865. Seven children were born to them, one dying in Sweden. In 1869, he with his six children came to America and resided in New York, moving to Iowa in 1870. He was married a second time in 1873, and she died July 17, 1899. He made his home with his son, Gust, in 1897, but in the fall of 1898 went to live with his daughter, Mrs. S.G. Carlson and has since lived with her and another daughter, Mrs. Eleck Swedlund.

He died April 1, 1902, at the age of 77 years, 2 months and 6 days. The children living are Mrs. S.G. Carlson, Mrs. Eleck Swedlund, Gust Peterson of Modale, Frank Peterson of Milwaukee, Wis., and Eleck Peterson. Victor Peterson was killed a few years ago in Leadville, Colorado. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at Eleck Swedlund's home at 2 o'clock. Remains were interred in the Olson cemetery.

Alexander Peterson died at the home of his son-in-law, Eleck Swedlund, Tuesday at 1:45 p.m. He fell from the bed in which he lay the other day and seemingly injured himself never regaining consciousness since. He was nearly eighty years old and the last year had been failing considerably. He was one of Stratford's pioneers and was known by all the older settlers.
