Mrs. Nels L. Peterson

Last rites for Mrs. Nels L. Peterson were held Friday at the farm home, southeast of Stratford, and were in charge of the Rev. Rueben Spong, pastor of Augustana Lutheran church in Boone. He used for his text the 4th Psalm, speaking on the 8th verse: "I will both lay me down in peace and sleep: for thou Lord only makest me dwell in safety." Two hymns were sung by Mrs. Ernest Alsin.

Interment was in the South Marion cemetery. The following were pallbearers: Charles Deihl, Elmer Magnuson, Carl Anderson, Alex Johnson, Floyd Erickson and Rudy Andrews. Mr. and Mrs. Iver Johnson, Miss Emma Johnson and Harold Leininger were in charge of the flowers.

Mrs. Hulda Amanda Peterson, daughter of William and Johanna Nystrom, [headstone reads Nystran] was born in Des Moines township, Boone county, Jan. 20, 1872 and died at her home southeast of Stratford, Feb. 9, 1944, at the age of 72 years, 19 days. She attended the Nebo and Bass Point rural schools and was confirmed in the Lutheran church in which church she retained membership. She was united in marriage with Nels L. Peterson on March 8, 1911 and they settled on the home farm which had since been her home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband who died in 1937, one brother, Philip, two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Erickson and Emma Nystrom [Nystran] and two step children, Embert Peterson and Litella Gould.

Left to mourn are a sister, Mrs. August Anderson, and a brother, Ulrick Nystrom, [Nystran] both of Boone, and three grandchildren, Harold and Arlen Peterson and Dorothy Gould. Miss Gould has been making her home with her grandmother for several years.
