February 12, 1925Death of Mrs. Will Olson
Word was received here yesterday of the death of Mrs. Will Olson of Des Moines, she having passed away late Tuesday afternoon. She had been in poor health for a number of years but during this winter had failed rapidly. She is a former highly respected pioneer citizen of this community. The remains will be shipped to Stratford and funeral services will be held the latter part of this week.

February 19, 1925Lena Sophia Olson, nee Hjelm, was born in Sweden, May 10, 1836 and departed from this life in Des Moines, February 11, 1925, having attained the ripe old age of 88 years, 9 months and 1 day.
She came to America during the year 1856 and immediately located with them in what was known as "Swede Bend." She was united in marriage to William Olson here on January 29, 1863, and to this union ten children were born of whom nine survive their mother.
She is mourned by her aged husband and five sons and five daughters. They are: William, Frank, Oscar, Lewis and August, all of Des Moines; Mrs. O.E. Atkinson, of Stratford; Mrs. Nels Benson and Mrs. McNutt, of Des Moines; Mrs. C.B. Hayes of Chicago. She also left a sister, Mrs. Carrie Barch of Chicago, and five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren to mourn her demise.
