Robert “Bob” Eugene McFarland, 72 of Webster City died on Tuesday, July 30, 2019, at Mercy One West Hospital in Des Moines. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, on Saturday, August 17, 2019, at Saratoga Cemetery, Stanhope, Iowa. The family has chosen Boman Funeral Home (www.bomanfh.com) to care for their needs.

Bob was born on November 30, 1946, in Burt, Iowa to Gerald and Alta (Irons) McFarland. While growing up his dad was a hired hand, so the family moved often, and he attended various schools while growing up.

In 1967 Bob joined the Navy and served on the U.S.S. Ashland, the sixth fleet. While on the U.S.S. Ashland they went to several locations, including Rota, Porto Scudo, Cannes, and Malta, as well as other locations. He was discharged in 1970.

Bob was a bit of a loaner. He enjoyed watching TV, playing cards, camping, time with his extended family and family gatherings.

His family includes: Sisters: Judi (Melvin) Katschke, of Blairsburg, and Shirley Wallace of Webster City; brother James (Andrea) McFarland of Britt, IA; nine nieces and nephews: Jacki Laube, Cyndi Katschke, Don (Milissa), Dani (Cory) Duns, Robin (Elvin) Johnson, Susan (Bill) Baldwin, Jeff Wallace, Courtney (Chris) Miller, and Jason McFarland; 28 great-nieces and nephews; and many, many cousins. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; brother Larry; brother in law John Wallace; Nephew: Michael; great-nephew Jordan; and many aunts and uncles.
