KAMRAR — Robert “Bob” Echelberger, 88, of Kamrar Iowa went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 7, 2019. The family will receive friends and relatives on Sunday, August 11, from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., at the MAC Life Church in Blairsburg, IA, with a funeral service at 1:30 p.m., on Monday, August 12, at the MAC Life Church in Blairsburg. The family has chosen Boman Funeral Home (www.bomanfh.com) to care for their needs.

Bob was born on August 22, 1930, to Tom and Blanche Echelberger in Kamrar, Iowa. He graduated from high school at the age of 16 and attended junior college for two years. He served four years in the Air Force during the Korean War. In 1952 he married Clysta Feaker from Stanhope, Iowa and to this union five daughters were born.

Bob’s life work was in construction. First with his dad and brother Bill, then commercial building with Woodruff and Evans Construction and later Echelberger Construction.

He loved Kamrar and served the community in many ways throughout his life. He was Fire Chief of Kamrar Fire and Rescue for many years. Most important to Bob was his love for the Lord, his family, and fellowship with friends.

Bob’s family includes his wife Clysta of 67 years and his four daughters: Jan (Tony) Neubauer of Blairsburg, Joy (Larry) Kapple) of Sigourney, Jeri (Ron) Babb of Des Moines, and Joni (David) Thornton of West Des Moines; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; seven siblings; and daughter Jill (Steve) Eckardt.

The family would like to thank Dr. Thomas Buroker, Dr. Mark Kellerman, and Dr. Jeremy Reese. A special thanks to Dr. Subhash Sahai and the staff at VanDiest Medical Center for their compassionate care.
