Gerald (Van) Van Langen, 91 of Webster City died Tuesday, January 26, at Crestview Nursing and Rehabilitation. The family has chosen Boman Funeral Home (www.bomanfh.com) to care for their needs. The family will plan a memorial service in the Spring.
Gerald (Van) was born on November 7, 1924 to Ernest and Minnie (Hassebrock) Van Langen, in Hamilton County, Iowa. He attended School in Hamilton County and graduated from Webster City High School. Van served in the US Navy as a Seaman (S1C) 1st Class, and is a World War II Veteran, and was at Pearl Harbor. He married Donna Fleener on February 6, 1959. He worked as a Machinist at Arrow Acme, for many years.
Van was a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church in Kamrar and then 1st Baptist Church in Webster City. He enjoyed hunting, trapping, sports in general and especially softball.
His family includes: his wife Donna; children: Greg (Holly) Van Langen of Estherville, Iowa, Susan (Dean) Buchholz of Janesville, Wisconsin and Christine Christian of Roanoke, Virginia; daughter in law Sue Van Langen of Arizona; 8 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Marlene; and son Rick Van Langen.
