Robert Thelke, 85, of rural Blairsburg, died Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 14, 2016 at the Vernon Lutheran Church near Dows. Burial will follow in the Vernon Lutheran Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 13, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center in Webster City.

Robert (Bob) Thelke the son of Herman and Margaret Thelke born on August 4, 1931 in Hampton, Iowa. Bob attended country school in Vernon Township, and graduated from Blairsburg High School in 1949. On January 24, 1954 he married Janice Adel Brown in Iowa Falls. The couple resided north of Blairsburg. He was a lifelong member of Vernon Lutheran Church.

Bob enjoyed farming with his father and later farmed with his son Gene on the family farm north of Blairsburg. He enjoyed fishing for bullheads, gardening, his dog, Hank and loved playing games with his family.

Survivors include his children, DeAnn (Dave) Johnson of Eagle Grove; Dean (Mehl) Thelke of Grand Prairie, Texas; Gene (Kathy) Thelke of Dows; Beth (Gary) Burgert of Middlesex, NY; sister, Erma Larsen of Fort Dodge; 13 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Janice, parents, sister, Nelda Glasco, and twin brother, Don Thelke.
