OBITUARY

W.R. HOLSTROM

William Rueben Holstrom, son of O.W. and Caroline Holstrom was born on a farm near Stratford on May 5, 1881. He had always lived in the community of Stratford until his death on May 3 at the Boone County Hospital after suffering several strokes.

He was married to Nettie Carlson on May 19, 1923 who preceded him in death on April 20, 1943. They lived on a farm southeast of Stratford until Feb. of 1943, when they moved into Stratford.

On July 1, 1947, he married Lillian Bjorkman of Boone. They lived on an acreage near Stratford.

He was active in the South Marion Methodist Church and was a member of the choir, the men's quartet and served on the board of trustees for a number of years. He was a lay leader in the church for the last two years.

He was a member of the Acorn Lodge No. 601, Order of the Eastern Star No. 504 of Stratford, Excalibur Commandry No. 13 of Boone and the Order of the Mystic Shrine of Des Moines.

He is survived by his wife, Lillie, one step-daughter, Mrs. Mary Wittmer, two grandsons, Mike and Mark Wittmer of Boone; one sister, Mrs. Albert Anderson of Stratford, one brother, Victor Holstrom of Boone and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held from the South Marion Methodist Church May 6, 1959, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. F.M. Garrett in charge. Burial was in the South Marion Cemetery with Masonic graveside services.

Hymns were sung by Mrs. Verlyn Fry and Mrs. Norman Erickson, accompanied by Mrs. Vincel Crim.

Services Held Wed. For W.R. Holstrom

Mr. William R. Holstrom, a retired farmer, age 77, died at the Boone County Hospital Sunday morning following several months illness.

He is survived by his wife, a sister, Mrs. Albert Anderson of Stratford, a brother Victor of Boone, a step-daughter, Mrs. E.T. Wittner and two grandsons of Boone.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 o'clock at the South Marion Church preceded by a prayer service in the Hanson funeral home at Stratford at 1:40 p.m. Burial was in the South Marion Cemetery. Rev. F.M. Garrett officiated.

Mr. Holstrom was a member of the South Marion Church and the Masonic Lodge.
