Obituary of Oscar F. Erickson

Oscar Frederick Erickson was born September 10, 1883 to Peter and Mary [Swanson] Erickson on a farm east of Stratford. At the time of his death, March 10, he was 80 years old.

He lived in Stratford all his life. In his earlier years he operated a garage and machine shop. In later years he had a shop at his home in town and later in the country where he had moved to live with his sister, Mrs. Matilda Lundstrom in 1951.

A member of the First Baptist Church, he had for many years prior to retirement served in various offices and taught Sunday School class. He was a man well liked by all who knew him. He took an interest in young and old alike and was always willing to help his friends whenever he could.

Left to mourn his death are a sister, Mrs. Matilda Lundstrom of Stratford; two brothers, Leonard of Stratford and and Alfred of Webster City; a step-daughter, Mrs. Delbert (Lois) Craig of Ayr, Nebraska; two grandsons, Sidney of Ayr, Nebraska and David of Portland, Oregon and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held March 13 at the First Baptist Church at Stratford with Rev. Kirwin Goodwin bringing the message. Interment was at South Marion Cemetery.
