Obituary
CARLSON

Many were the hearts that were made sad when it was whispered from ear to ear Saturday evening that S. G. Carlson had passed away shortly after seven o'clock. Although he had been ailing for some time and it was generally known that his illness would result in his death it was not thought that the end would come so soon.

Samuel Gust Carlson was born in Sweden, July 24, 1849, and died at his home here August 29, 1914, aged 65 years, 1 month and 5 days. At two years of ago he emigrated to America with his parents. He was united in marriage to Mary Peterson, June 8, 1872, and to this union five sons were born—Charles, Willie, Clarence and Elmer of Stratford and Sam of Hoistein. He was converted and joined the Baptist church in the winter of 1877 and was a faithful and honored member until his death. He was a member of the town council, having been elected to that office at the spring election of this year. He was a kind and loving husband and father, a good neighbor and friend, and will be greatly missed by his family, his church and relatives and a host of friends.

The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the residence at 1 o'clock and at the Baptist church at 1:30, Rev. Robert Larson conducting the services. A large concourse of friends were present to pay their last respects to the departed friend.

He leaves to mourn his death besides his son, a wife, nine grandchildren, one sister and one brother.
