Mrs. F.A. Carlson

Funeral services for Mrs. F.A. Carlson were held Saturday, Dec. 27, at 2 o'clock in the Stratford Baptist Church, preceded by a brief service in the home, both conducted by the Rev. James Selander, assisted by the Rev. C.F. Schmidt, pastor of the Church of Christ at Stanhope.

The interpretation of the text as found in Jeremiah 4:20 and its adaptation to the Christian life of the deceased gave much comfort to the bereaved ones.

Mrs. Marie Martens and Mrs. Ralph Freese sang "In the Sweet Bye and Bye," and "God's Tomorrow" with Mrs. James Selander as accompanist.

Interment was made in the South Marion Cemetery. The pallbearers were L.Q. Dick, Roy Davis, Emmanuel Lindquist, Anton Sealine, Albert Hubner and Andie Holt.

Jennie B. Carlson, nee Peterson, was born in Rock Island, Ill., June 16, 1869. After a year's illness she died in her home at Stratford age the age of 72 years, 6 months, 9 days.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, August, three sons, Roy F., Glenn H. and Lester M.; three daughters, Mrs. Ruth Angstrom, Mrs. Gladys Young and Mrs. Ethel Town; eleven grandchildren; one brother, J.A. Peterson, of Pine City, Minn.; besides other relatives and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert, her parents, one sister and three brothers.

When two years old the deceased moved with her parents to Stratford where they purchased a farm in the East Marion community.

She was united in marriage to F.A. Carlson, of Stratford, on Dec. 26, 1895, and if she had lived another day they would have marked their forty-sixth wedding anniversary. They lived on the home farm until 1925 when they retired and moved into Stratford.

She was baptized and affiliated with the Church of Christ at Stanhope in 1900, where for years she labored for the kingdom of God. Later when she moved to Stratford, while retaining her membership in the Stanhope church, she became an active worker in the Baptist church where she took an active park in the Ladies Aid Society as long as her health and strength permitted.

In the passing of Mrs. Carlson the Christian faith has lost an ardent devotee, a staunch friend and co-worker. She possessed a gift of rare beauty, a gift she exhibited on many occasions. She could smile and be friendly to all. Even during her long and painful illness, when her body was racking with fatigue and pain, she smiled and greeted kindly everybody, who came to see her. She will be missed in the circle of relatives and friends, but none would want her to relinquish her present place with the ransomed in glory. To her, earth's night is gone forever. Peace be to her memory. - Contributed
