Charlotte “Char” Frances Gilbertson, 69, passed away Sunday, February 10, 2019 at her home with her family by her side in Grants Pass, OR.
Char was the eldest of eight, born October 29, 1949 in Webster City, IA to Charles and Frances Wood. She Wed in 1968 to Dwayne Gilbertson; they later had two children; Scott and Shane Gilbertson.
Char attended the University of Northern Iowa where she earned her Bachelors degree in fine arts and graduated with honors December 19, 1987. She spent her years working as a Design Director for Delta and John Deere in Cedar Falls, IA until 1995 when she moved to Grants Pass, OR and worked as a Graphic Designer for Kathrein Inc-Scala and lastly for Fire Mountain Gems.
She was the vice president of Mountain Starts Guild from 2007-2008 and a volunteer at Soroptimist International of North Valley.
She had a passion for art, quilting, reading and her family. She devoted most of her time and energy into taking care of her family. She was very compassionate and was always putting others before herself offering encouragement, support and a helping hand in any way that she could.
She is survived by her son Scott Gilbertson and wife Tanya of Medford, OR; Son Shane Gilbertson and life partner Larissa of Grants Pass, OR; Daughter Jessica Reis of Grants Pass, OR; Daughter Cathy Price of White City, OR; Brothers and sisters, Joseph Wood of Charlottesville, VA; Margaret Crosby of Cedar Rapids, IA; Frances Brown of Lebanon, MO; Marianna Bryan of Webster City, IA; James Wood of Webster City; IA, Arthur Wood of Webster City, IA; Rachel Wood of Fort Dodge, IA, Grandchildren Fallon Hamilton; Aaron Gilbertson; Jacob Gilbertson; Megan Binx; Caleb Vasquez; and 8 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother Frances and father Charles.
