Ben Keigan, 68, longtime Webster City resident, died at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Hamilton county hospital where he had been a patient the past three weeks. He had been in ill health the past year.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Church of Christ with the Rev. H.C. Perrine officiating. Burial will be in Cass Center cemetery with military services at the graveside. The body will lie in state at the Foster funeral home until 10 a.m. Thursday when it will be taken to the church.

Benjamin Keigan, son of William and Elizabeth Keigan, was born March 17, 1896 at Webster City. He was reared and educated in the Webster City community.

He entered service in World War I in 1918 and served with the air force at Talliferro field, Fort Worth, Texas. Following his discharge from 1929, he returned to Webster City.

He was united in marriage to Ina Allen, and the couple made their home on a farm north of Webster City until 1939, when they moved to Litchfield, Minn. He served with the police force at Litchfield and was chairman of the Selective Service board of Meeker county at Litchfield.

In 1954, the family returned to Webster City where he served as custodian at the Church of Christ for eight years, retiring in 1962.

He is survived by his wife, four daughters and one son, Cecil D. Keigan of Des Moines, Mrs. R.F. (Ardath) Roberts of Marshalltown, Mrs. Raymond (June) Kehoe, Webster City, Mrs. Warren (Shirley) Edwards, Watkins, Minnesota, and Mrs. Richard (Linda Lou) Ades, Maquoketa, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two brothers and one sister, Archie Keigan, Blairsburg, Mark Keigan of Dassel, Minn., and Mrs. Charley (Jettie) McCoy of Darwin, Minn., and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson.

Mr. Keigan was a member of the Church of Christ and the American Legion.
