William J. Ruhl, 75, died March 6, 2000 at his home. Funeral services were held at Werness Brothers Chapel in Bloomington, MN. with burial in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery. The family requests memorials be directed to St. Luke's Lutheran Church and Fairview Southdale Hospice.

William J. Ruhl, son of F.E. and Zelpha B. Ruhl, was born July 26, 1924 in Webster City, the youngest of six children. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theatre from 1941 through 1945. He was a professional truck driver for more than 50 years. Mr. Ruhl was a member of the St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Bloomington, MN., and was a member of the VFW Post 1296.

Survivors are his wife of 50 years, Bernadine Phyllis Leiferman Ruhl; daughter, Barbara Sue Ruhl Ericson, sons and daughters-in-law, Brian D. and Barbara Peitso Ruhl and Brent and Lynn Ruhl; 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Gwyn Ruhl of Webster City, nieces and nephews.
