John J. Baker, 37, widely known Webster City resident, died suddenly Saturday evening at the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines. Mr. and Mrs. Baker had been vacationing at Jester Park north of Des Moines when Mr. Baker suffered a coronary attack and died at the Lutheran hospital.

Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. Gordon Watson, associate pastor of the Asbury Methodist church, officiating. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery.

John J. Baker was born Feb. 5, 1931 on a farm near Jewell and received his education in the schools at Jewell and Webster City. He entered the U.S. Air Force in January, 1951 and served for four years in the European area.

He was united in marriage Sept. 7, 1951 to Charlotte Elaine Scott, and following Mr. Baker's discharge in 1955 the couple returned to Webster City where Mr. Baker had been employed by the Hamilton County maintenance department.

He is survived by his wife; three sons and two daughters: Michael, 15; James, 14; Dennis, 12; Donna, 8 and Karen, 5; his parents, John W. Baker of Oskaloosa, Iowa and Mrs. Edwin Streb of Webster City; two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Fred (Dorothy) Siders of Des Moines and Mrs. Wayne (Ann) Caruth of Sioux City, Dean McFarland of St. Louis, Mo., and Gary Baker of Webster City.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Darwin Baker.
