Agnes Jenison, 79, Belmond, died November 28, 1999 at the Belmond Community Hospital in Belmond. Funeral services will be held at the United Methodist Church of Belmond on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. with Revs. Celestyne DeVance and Janet Wearda officiating. Burial will be in Blairsburg Cemetery in Blairsburg. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Tenold Funeral Home in Belmond and will continue for one hour prior to services at the church Thursday.

Agnes Jansen Holt Jenison, the daughter of George and Bertha Ohden Jansen, was born Oct. 15, 1920 in Kamrar. She attended and graduated from Blairsburg High School in 1937. She attended Webster City Junior College and went on to attend Iowa State Techer's College in Cedar Falls. She taught in the rural schools of Hamilton County. On Oct. 4, 1941, she married Clarence "Bus" Holt. The couple had three children, Pamela, Patricia and Michael. The family lived in Blairsburg where Mr. Holt ran the Phillips 66 Station and had a bottled gas and fuel oil delivery business. Mrs. Holt was a full-time homemaker and was active in community affairs.

She served as the Blairsburg School Board Treasurer, PTA president, Sunday school superintendent and Bible school teacher for many years. Mr. Holt died in May, 1960. She renewed her teaching certificate and taught in all three centers of Northeast Hamilton School District while continuing her education at Drake University. She graduated in August, 1971.

She married George Jenison on June 26, 1976. She retired from teaching and the couple moved to Belmond where Mr. Jenison was a rural mail carrier. For the past 20 years, the couple has wintered in Harlingen, TX.

Survivors are her husband, George, Belmond; daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Dennis Doolittle, Williams, a son and daughter-in-law, Michael D. and Carla Holt of Iowa Falls; grandchildren, Eric and Grant Doolittle, Mikelle, Nicholas and Jonathon Holt; step-daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Bruce Johnson, Colorado, step-son Tom Jenison of Louisiana; two brothers, LuVerne Jansen, Williams, Kenneth Jansen, Walla Walla, WA., and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Clarence, a daughter, Patricia, a grandson, Dirk Doolittle, a brother Ronald Jansen and a sister, Gladys Jansen.
