Carroll Dean Vespested, 82, Rapid City, SD, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather went peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, November 6, 2018.

Carroll was born July 16, 1936.

Carroll, a.k.a. CD and Vess, had an Air Force career with a full life, living in many places and working a variety of jobs to provide for his family. Later, he had a wide variety of interesting jobs.

Survivors include his sons, Steven (Shari) of Prior Lake, MN, Richard of Mesa, AZ; daughter, Sheryl (Scott) Lundin of Rapid City; grandsons, Ian (Bre) Lundin of Richfield, MN, Josh (Bethany) Lundin of Rapid City; granddaughter, Charissa Lundin of Rapid City; eight great-grandchildren: Maelle, Eleanor, Annigale, Liberty, Malachi, Noah, Kaylee and Carter; sisters, Doris (Don) Rastetter of Jewell, Iowa, Faye Arends of Gilbert, Iowa, Miriam (Robert) Peter of Stanhope, Iowa; sister-in-law, Maxine Jacobson of Story City, Iowa; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte of 58 years; brothers, Loren and Jerald Jacobson, Virgil Wilcox; sister, Arlene Bragg; his adoptive parents, Chris and Florence Vespested and his natural parents, Maybelle and Arthur Handeland.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Ft. Meade VA Hospital Hospice Program.

Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Black Hills National Cemetery.
