Cora Williams, 78, Stanhope, Died In Story City

Mrs. Cora Williams, 78, longtime resident of Stanhope, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, at the Story City Hospital in Story City. For the past four years, she had been residing at the East Lane Manor in Jewell.

She was born March 1, 1894, at Crocker, Mo., the daughter of Hezekiah and Mary (Stockton) Pummill. She was married to Clarence E. Williams Oct. 29, 1911. The couple made their home in several Iowa towns where Mr. Williams served as depot agent with the Chicago and North Western Railroad. Since 1928, they had resided in Stanhope. Mrs. Williams was with the hot lunch program at the Stanhope school for many years.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church at Stanhope, the Royal Neighbors of America, and the Avon Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star at Stratford.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Wendell (Ruth) Carlson and Mrs. Clark (Clarice) Coats, both of Stratford, and Mrs. James (Dorothy) Blount, Hamilton, Ohio, a sister, Mrs. George White, Detroit, Mich., nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, two sisters and six brothers.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 10, at 1:30 p.m., at the United Methodist Church in Stanhope, with Rev. Elmer Baker officiating. Burial will be in the South Marion Cemetery near Stratford.

The Foster Funeral Home in Webster City is in charge of arrangements and friends may call until 9:30 a.m. Saturday when the casket will be taken to the church. Eastern Star services will be held Friday, at 8 p.m., at the funeral home, and friends and members are invited.
