Mabel Westrum, 94, died Dec. 28, 1996, at the Stratford Care Center, Stratford. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Stratford Lutheran Church, Stratford, with Rev. Thomas Hungerford officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the South Marion Cemetery, rural Stratford. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today at the Schroeder Funeral Home, Boone. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. tonight. Visitation will continue at the church Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.

Mabel E. Angstrom, daughter of Nels and Clara Erickson Angstrom, was born Sept. 22, 1902, near Stratford. She attended school in Stratford and graduated from Stratford High School. She also attended Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She lived all of her life in the Stratford area. She taught country school in rural Stratford for one year in Fort Dodge. She had been a resident of the Stratford Care Center since November of 1996.

She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Gayle and Betty Westrum, Lyle and Alice Westrum, Boone, Gerald Westrum, Eugene and Arlys Westrum, Stratford; daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn and Richard Palmer, Vancouver, Wash., Marietta and Ted Grabau, Boone; 15 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and nieces, Ardys and Kay Angstrom, Webster City. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Milton; sister-in-law, Bertha; daughter-in-law, Dorothy; and grandson, Derek Palmer.

Mrs. Westrum was a member of the Stratford Lutheran Church and the Women's Guild of her church.
