January 7, 1987Roy W. Wanlund, 82, of Stratford died Monday, December 29, 1986 at the Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames.
Funeral services were held Friday, January 2, 1987 at 1:30 p.m. in the South Marion Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Russell officiating. Burial was in the South Marion Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Velva; two sons, Dale and John of Stratford; one daughter, LaVonne (Mrs. Jesse) Barreda of Lombard, Ill.; one granddaughter, and one sister, Bernice Anderson of Hammand, Ind.
Roy W. Wanlund was born March 29, 1904, at Harvey, Ill. the son of William and Ida Lindberg Wanlund.
He was married September 2, 1945, to Velva Johnson at Stratford. The couple lived in Hazel Crest, Ill., until they moved to Stratford in 1980. He worked as a mail handler for the Illinois Central Railroad for 42 years until his retirement in 1969.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, three sisters and one son.
He was a member of the South Marion United Methodist Church.
