Ruby F. Swedlund, 89, of the Stratford Care Center died at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, August 26, 1988.

Services were held August 29, at 3:00 p.m. at the South Marion United Methodist Church, with Rev. Willis Grant officiating. Burial was in the South Marion Cemetery.

Ruby Florence Swedlund was the fourth daughter of Josephine Peterson Swedlund and Elick Swedlund, born on February 2, 1899 in rural Stratford.

She received her education in local schools. She lived in the Stratford area until 1943 where she cared for her aged parents. She and her sister, Hannah, then moved to Boone where Ruby was a kind and faithful maidservant for the Chandler residence for seventeen years. She then spent several years as a companion for Esther Lundquist.

The past seven years she has been a resident at the Stratford Care Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Ruby was a lifetime member of the South Marion United Methodist Church.
