Funeral Services For Axel Swanson
Stratford (Speacial) -- Funeral services for Axel E. Swanson, who died Saturday, April 15, at the Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames, were held Monday, April 17, at the Stratford Lutheran Church. Pator A.M. Youngquist officiated at the services and burial was in the South Marion Cemetery. The Hanson-Stark-Welin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He was born in Sweden March 29, 1890, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Swen Karlsson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Sweden and received his education there. In 1910 he came to the United States and resided in Pennsylvania, moving to Stratford in 1912. He was married to Helga Anderson in March of 1918, at Boone. He had farmed in the Stratford area until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Mrs. George Erickson and Mrs. Howard Bergman, both of Stratford, one son, Donald Swanson of Lehigh, nine grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
