Franklin Rose, 74 of Stratford died at the Boone County hospital Wednesday morning.

Masonic graveside services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the South Marion cemetery south of here, with committal services by the Rev. Leland Eyres. Friends may call at the Hansen-Stark funeral home in Stratford Thursday from 4:40 to 8 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

Due to a family illness, a memorial service will be held at the Calvary United Methodist church here at a date to be announced.

Survivors include his wife, Bessie; one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Beverly) Jeannelle Stemmerman of Boone; one son, John of Stratford; and three grandchildren, Carrie, Kevin and Lorna.

He was preceded in death by his sister and one half-brother.

Mr. Rose was born May 19, 1902 in Stratford, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank [Matilda Quick] Rose. On Nov. 6, 1926 he married Bessie Irene McMichael in Des Moines.

The past 28 years, Mr. Rose owned and managed the Rose Oil Co. until retirement.

He was a member of the Calvary United Methodist church of Stratford; Royal Arch Mason; past patron of Order of Eastern Star, Avon chapter No. 504 of Stratford; past master of Acorn Lodge No. 601; member of Commander and Za-Za-Zig shrine; Stratford Chamber of Commerce; Dayton Country club and of the senior golf and bowling league.
