Gordon Herbert Holstrum, 73, Fort Dodge, died Feb. 24, 1983 at his home. He was born Dec. 27, 1909 in rural Stanhope, the son of Victor and Gertrude [Swedlund] Holstrum.

Holstrum was a veteran of World War II. He farmed in the Stratford-Stanhope area, and owned a trucking and corn shelling business.

He was preceded in death by a sister.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Norma Phipps, Sioux Falls, S.D.; two sons, Marlowe, Rockford, Ill., and Gary, New York City, N.Y.; ten grandchildren and one great-grandson; three sisters, Mrs. Hazel Carlberg and Mrs. Audrey Carlson, both of Stratford and Mrs. Ione Jones of Boone.

Funeral services were held at 12:30 p.m. Monday at the South Marion United Methodist Church in Stratford, with the Rev. Richard Russell officiating. Burial was in the South Marion Cemetery.

The Hanson-Stark-Welin Funeral Home was in in charge of arrangements.
