Harriett Hinds, 74, formerly of Stratford and more recently Boone, died Wednesday, April 5, 2000 at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone. Services will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Stratford Lutheran Church with Rev. John Grebner officiating. Burial will be in the South Marion Cemetery, south of Stratford. Friends may call at the Stark-Welin Funeral Home in Stratford on Friday evening from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. with the family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Visitation will continue Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Harriett Olson, daughter of Fredrick and Alice Hansen Olson, was born July 26, 1925 at Stratford. She was a 1944 graduate of Stratford High School. Prior to her marriage she worked as a bank teller in Boone and Stratford. On March 8, 1951, she married Loren G. Hinds at Calvary United Methodist Church in Stratford. She worked at the Boone County Home beginning in the spring of 1970 for five years as an LPN. She helped her husband on the farm operation and in the fall of 1990, the couple moved to Boone. She was a member of the Stratford Lutheran Church, Order of Eastern Star Avon Chapter #504, and Magi Chapter #139 of Boone where she had served as the past worthy matron.

Survivors are her three daughters and sons-in-law, Lorenda and Russel Glade of Ocheydan, Lori and Frank Nutting of Milo, and Luann and Peter Gilman of Cedar Rapids, eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Loren, on October, 1997.
