Funeral services for Harold E. Fohlin, 83, Pocahontas, were held Saturday, August 12, 1989 at Stratford Lutheran Church in Stratford, Iowa. Rev. Jennie Edinger and Rev. William Loughmiller conducted the 1:00 p.m. service. Interment was held in the South Marion Cemetery, Stratford.

Mr. Fohlin passed away Wednesday morning, August 9, 1989 at the Pocahontas Community Hospital.

During the service, Darrell Young sang "How Great Thou Art". Ardelle Phipps sang "Children of the Heavenly Father" in Swedish. "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" was sung by the congregation, accompanied by Ardelle.

Bearers were grandsons, Curt Wood, Kent Wood, Mark Eklund, Brett Eklund, Kim Ferry, Brian Sullivan and Dan Halstead.

Mr. Fohlin was born on March 13, 1906 at Stratford. He was the son of Charles and Jennie (Anderson) Fohlin. He attended country schools. On December 19, 1931, Harold was united in marriage to Margaret Jernquist at Stratford. The couple lived on their farm southwest of Stratford from 1932 to 1979 when they retired and moved to Pocahontas.

He was a member of the Stratford Lutheran Church, a charter member of the Pocahontas Lions Club and was a past member of the Board of Directors of the Stratford Co-op Elevator.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret; daughters, Mrs. Daryl (Marge) Wood, Pocahontas; Mrs. Deane (Mary) Eklund, Urbandale; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son and a brother.
