A.M. Otteros died Saturday

WILLIAMS - A.M. Otteros, 71, a longtime resident of the rural Williams vicinity, died Saturday at Mercy hospital in Mason City where he had been a patient for three weeks.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Vernon Lutheran church near Dows with burial in the Vernon township cemetery. The body will lie in state in the William-Van Hove Funeral home in Dows until 10 a.m. Wednesday.

A.M. Otteros was born Feb. 24, 1897, in Bergen, Norway, the son of Andrew and Marie Olsen Otteros. He was married to Elsie Beyer Feb. 1, 1920, at Eagle Grove.

Surviving are his wife; one son, Fred Otteros of Williams, and one daughter, Mrs. Andy (Clesine) Caruth, also of Williams; five grandchildren, Alan Caruth, Ellsworth, Mrs. Craig Twedt, Celeste, Marty and Kirby Otteros, all of Williams; one sister and four brothers, Mrs. Jens Skilbred, Shawmut, Mont., John Otteros, Williams, Harold Otteros, Webster City, Mangus Otteros, Boulder, Colo., and Hilmar Otteros of Bergen, Norway.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, two sisters and one great-grandchild.

He was raised and educated in Norway and came to the Eagle Grove community when he was 19. He served in World War I and later moved to the Dows area where he engaged in the corn shelling and trucking business, also farming for many years.

He was a member of the Vernon Lutheran church and the Dows American Legion.
