Another promising young man of our community, Albert Cyrell Nathaniel, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Swen [Martha Bjorklund] Erickson, has been called to the world beyond. Deceased was born in Hamilton county, Iowa, on the 17th day of January, 1889. He has lived with his parents on the farm southeast of Stratford and enjoyed good health up to eighteen months ago, when his strength began to fail. With the hope of overcoming the ailment he spent some time at a sanitarium at Oakdale, Iowa, and for a time it seemed as if this his hope of recovering should be realized. In November of last year he traveled south in pursuit of health, first as far as Woodward, Oklahoma, and after about five weeks' stay at this place continued his journey to Hagerman, New Mexico, with hopes that the climate there would prove beneficial, but in his case it seemed rather to shorten his days. He died on the 18th day of January, 1912, at the age of 23 years and one day. He was surrounded by loved ones, who spared neither time nor means in attending to his wants and to make him comfortable. Death came peacefully, father and mother both being present at his death bed. His last request was, "Mamma, pray for me."

The remains was shipped from New Mexico to Stanhope, Iowa, and the funeral, which was largely attended, took place from the Erickson home Wednesday, January 24th, and was conducted by Rev. H.A. Peterson, assisted by Rev. J.P. Seaberg. Loving parents, two brothers, Emil and Rueben, and two sisters, Anna and Esther, survive, besides these bereaved there are other near relatives and many friends who sincerely mourn his death. Interment was made at the South Marion cemetery.

Obituary.

This community was greatly shocked last Friday when a telegram came to the home of Swan Erickson announcing the death of their son, Albert Cyrus Nathaniel Erickson, who was born in Hamilton county, Iowa, January 17, 1889 and died in Hagerman, New Mexico, January 18, 1912 at the age of 23 years and one day. He leaves to mourn his sad death his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Swan Erickson, two sisters, Anna and Esther and two brothers, Emil and Reuben, a baby brother having preceded him in death about 21 years ago, besides a sister-in-law and other relatives and a host of friends, as Albert was a favorite wherever he went. To years ago he took a severe cold which left him with a weak heart and which finally ran into tuberculosis. All that love or money could do was done for him. He took treatment at Iowa City and a trip to Wisconsin, both of which seemed to help him and nine weeks ago his parents took him to Oklahoma and then to New Mexico but all in vain as he suddenly became worse and died in a few short hours. The parents arrived home with the remains Tuesday morning, Jan. 23rd and the funeral was held from the home January 24th, conducted by Rev. H. A. Peterson, of the South Marion Swedish M. E. church in the Swedish language and Rev. Seaberg of Oakland, Nebraska, in the English language, both paying a beautiful tribute to the memory of the deceased. The remains were laid at rest in the South Marion cemetery. "He is not dead, but sleepeth," said our Lord of one he loved and so we can say the same of Albert.
