Phyllis J. Carlstedt, 88, of Stratford, Iowa passed away at the Stratford Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Tuesday morning, May 14, 2013.

Edward and Olive (Boyd) Knaub welcomed their daughter, Phyllis, into this world on October 4, 1924 in Boone, Iowa. She graduated from Luther High School in 1944.

On March 16, 1960, Phyllis married Clifford Carlstedt in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.

Phyllis loved the relationships and friends of Athens Woods Estates, her most recent home. She and Clifford enjoyed dancing, fishing and traveling. Phyllis appreciated flowers and listening to music.

Phyllis is survived by 2 step-daughters Donna Lee Robinson and Martha J. Carlson and her husband Keith all of Stratford. Also surviving is a nephew, Keith Hedlund, of Slater, Iowa; nieces Sandra Schade of Thor, Iowa and Karla Jenson of Aurora, Colorado; and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband Clifford Carlstedt in March of 1997; parents Edward and Olive Knaub; sisters Bernadine Erickson, Maxine Hedlund; and an infant sister, Marilyn.

Phyllis was a member of the Stratford Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Women of the Word.

A memorial service will be held on Friday afternoon, May 17th at 2:00 p.m. in the Stratford Lutheran Church with Pastor Joe Lambert officiating.

Interment will be in the South Marion Cemetery southeast of Stratford.
