Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church in Stratford on Feb. 25 for Mrs. Hilda Carlson. Organist was Mrs. Norman Erickson and vocalists were Mr. and Mrs. Norman Erickson.

Hilda Norling was born near Stratford in Hamilton County, Iowa, on Nov. 2, 1879, the youngest child of Olof and Sophia (Samuelson) Norling. She attended school in Hamilton County, where she grew to young womanhood.

She was married to William F. Carlson on Nov. 27, 1901. To this union five children were born. One daughter, Orlyn, died at the age of 29 years. Surviving children are Frank, of Colfax, Iowa; Merwin of rural Colfax, Dorothy (Mrs. P.M. Banks) of Fillmore, Calif.; and Lillian (Mrs. Claude Deo) of Tucson, Arizona. She also is survived by one brother, John F. Norling of Denver, Colo., 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter, one sister, and one brother, who died in infancy.

She became a member of First Baptist Church in Stratford in 1942, where for many years she was active in all church activities. She was a 50-year member of the Royal Neighbors of America, where she was active until recent years.

She moved to the Evangelical Free Church Home in Boone in August, 1959. She died at the Boone County Hospital on Feb. 23, 1961, at the age of 81 years.
