Joy Wilson, 94, of Webster City, departed this life on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at Van Diest Medical Center. Private family burial will take place at a later date. Foster Funeral and Cremation Center is caring for the family.

Joy Hanson was born on February 12, 1924 in Minnesota, the daughter of Iver and Hilki (Nabor) Hanson. She received her education in Minnesota and moved to Webster City to live with relatives and find work. She worked for several restaurants before marrying Galen Briggs in 1946. They farmed the Kendall Young farm north of the park for 23 years.

After moving to town, she worked at Mortons, Electrolux and Peed Publishing before retiring in 1986.

Galen passed away in 1989 after 43 years of marriage. In 1994 she married Raymond E. Wilson. He preceded her in death in 2003. In 2015 Joy moved to Southfield Wellness Community.

Joy is survived by her daughter, Judy Holdgrafer; son, Mike (Barb) Briggs; three grandchildren, Jeff (Kris) Holdgrafer, Heath (Angie) Briggs and Rachel (Tom) Austin; two great-grandchildren, Garrett Holdgrafer and Layton Briggs; sisters, Pauline Hanson and Irene Christensen of Minnesota.

Joy loved to bowl and enjoyed playing cards, casinos, bingo, and baking goodies for the RSVP dinners.
