Richard K. Eppard, 44, Webster City, died Friday evening at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at St. Paul's Lutheran 1:30 p.m. Rev. Mark Pflughoeft will be officiating with burial in Graceland.

Friends may call at the Foster Funeral Home until 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Richard Kent Eppard, son of Donald and Gladys Westwick Eppard, was born July 14, 1941 at Webster City. He was educated at Blairsburg, graduating in 1959. He served with the army reserves at Fort Dodge and farmed in the Blairsburg area.

On July 22, 1962 he married Nancy Holkan at Webster City. The couple farmed until 1971 when they moved to Webster City. He joined the local police department at that time. He continued farming until 1981. For the past three years, he had been employed part time at Mertz Engineering.

He is survived by his wife; daughter Susan Eppard who lives at home; his parents, Don and Gladys Eppard of Webster City; three sisters and one brother, Donna Gene (Mrs. Bob) Hemminger of Brookfield, Mo., Gwen (Mrs. William) Ketchum of Cerritos, Calif., Elaine (Mrs. Don) Harmon of Vista, Calif., Richard Eppard of Mt. Pleasant;

He was preceded by one sister who died in infancy.

Mr. Eppard was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He was baptized at Rose Grove Church. He was a member of the American Legion, Webster City Moose Lodge, Iowa State Police Association and Webster City Police Association.
