David Beckner of Webster City Dies
March 10, 1916 - Aged Resident Dies at Family Home on Cedar Street

David Beckner passed away at the family home, 508 Cedar Street, Wednesday afternoon at 3:45 following a three or four week inllness. Mr. Beckner had had the grippe and had since been ailing, but was up and around the house almost to the last.

David Benjamin Beckner was born in West Virginia, March 18, 1829, and would have been 87 years old this month. April 26, 1860, he was united in marriage with Miss Sarah Patterson in St. Ansgar, Iowa. To this union nine children were born. Two children, James and Charles, passed away sometime ago, but the remainder of the family, together with the wife and mother, survive the deceased. They are Mrs. Mae Woodall, W. B. and I. N. Beckner of this city; Mrs C. A. Hosford, Winner, South Dakota; Mrs Sherman Crane and Mrs. Ed. Crane, Lebonon, South Dakota; and H. D. Beckner of Jordon, South Dakota. The later arrived here a day or so before his father's death. Mrs Hosford will arrive tonight and the Mesdames Crane are expected tonight or tomorrow.

The Beckner family came to this city about twenty years ago from South Dakota, where they resided on a farm. The deceased lived to a ripe old age and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Mr. Beckner was an honored member of the United Brethern Church of this city.
