A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2018, 11:00 AM, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Webster City, with Pastor Mark Eichler officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Webster City.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 11, 2018, from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Webster City. Funeral arrangements were made with Foster Funeral and Cremation Center.

Geraldine Rose Frette was born on May 5, 1936, on the family farm near Radcliffe. She was the oldest of five children born to M. Roy and Grace (Reed) Frette. Geraldine was baptized on June 28, 1936, and confirmed on April 3, 1949, both at Landstad Lutheran Church in rural Williams, Iowa.

Geraldine received her education and graduated from Radcliffe High School with the Class of 1954. After graduation, Geraldine moved to Ames, where she was employed by Mutual Benefit. There, she met several other young ladies and together they developed a friendship that continues today.

On September 29, 1956, Geraldine married John Neils Peterson at Our Savior’s Lutheran in Radcliffe. Together they built their first home on Middle Street in Webster City, and raised their three children: Gerald, Jerita, and Joel. In 1988, John and Geraldine built their retirement home at the end of Middle Street. Geraldine continued to live there until moving to an apartment in 2013.

Geraldine’s life as a housewife was grounded in her strong faith in God as she raised children, enjoyed grandchildren and great grandchildren, and as she helped family members, friends, and strangers in any way she could. Geraldine worked alongside and supported John as he grew their businesses, especially Peterson Construction. John died of cancer in 1993, at the age of 57.

Geraldine was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Webster City, where she enjoyed being a part of Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML). Geraldine traveled on several bus trips, attended church retreats, Bible camps, and music events, always sharing her love for Christ. She was a terrific cook, and gracious hostess, entertaining whomever, wherever and whenever. Geraldine spent as much time as possible at the family cabin at Clear Lake, making memories with family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Gerald (Janelle) Peterson, Joel (Debbie) Peterson, and Jerita (Jeff) Nelson, all of Webster City; grandchildren, Ashley (Robert) Larson, Jake (Katie) Peterson, Kristen (Ryan) Davison, Karl (Taylor) Peterson, Kari (Tyler) Patten, all of Webster City; Brent Nelson of Blairsburg, and Jenna (Bryan) Swon of West Des Moines; great grandchildren, Reed and Ali Larson, Owen and Oliver Peterson, Kenzie Davison, Tessa Peterson; brothers, Ronald (Pat) Frette, Dennis (Jolene) Frette, both of Ames, and Keith (Nancy) Frette of Sioux City; sister, Elaine (Larry) Brim of Webster City; brother-in-law, Paul (Mary) Peterson of Atlantic; sister-in-law, Cynthia Peterson of Corning; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Erin Peterson.

Blessed be the memory of Geraldine!
