WAS IN 72ND YEAR

Health Poor Past Winter, Though Condition Serious Only Week

Daniel Gerber, for forty years a resident of Hamilton county, passed away at his home, 930 Bank street, at 7:30 o'clock last evening.

Mr. Gerber had been in poor health all through the winter, but not until the last week was his condition regarded as serious, the dropsical ailment which troubled him then assuming a serious phase. He was in his seventy-second year, having been born Jan. 30, 1848. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, four sons and three daughters, as well as seventeen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

His children are, C.C. Gerber, a resident of California; F.A. Gerber, Kamrar; H.W. Gerber, Kamrar; D.C. Gerber, who lives in Canada and had just returned to his home last week following a visit with his parents; Mrs. Robert Kirchner, Webster City; Mrs. E.D. Butler, Waubay, S.D., and Mrs. L.E. Evans, Timber Lake, S.D. The three daughters and two sons are now at the family home.

Mr. Gerber was born in Germany, married Miss Caroline Beaker there and came to this country when he was scarcely more than twenty years of age. He located in Hamilton county and had lived on the home farm, four and a half miles southeast of this city, practically all the time since with the exception of five or six years residence in South Dakota. He retired from active farming several years ago and moved to this city.

Kindly and unassuming Mr. Gerber has known the respect and good will of all with whom he came in contact. He was an honored member of the English Lutheran church of this city.
