Daily Freeman Journal, Webster City, Iowa, Tuesday, October 11, 1932

Mrs. F.A. Gerber died at the home of her mother, Mrs. Louisa Bauer, 936 First street, Webster City, Friday morning, at the age of 52 years, 11 months and 18 days, death being caused by heart trouble. She had been in poor health for the past four years but only seriously ill since June.

Kate Mary Bauer was born Oct. 30, 1879 on a farm near Kamrar, her parents being Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bauer, widely known residents of that community. Her father died in 1899.

She attended the country school near her home and at an early age she joined the Methodist church of Kamrar where she was a faithful member and an ardent worker in the church societies as long as her health would permit.

Jan. 31, 1900 Miss Bauer was married to Fred A. Gerber, also of Kamrar community and since that time they had made their home on a farm north of Kamrar.

To Mr. and Mrs. Gerber were born five children. One son, Merlyn, died a year ago. She leaves to mourn her death her husband, one daughter, Mrs. George Scheppler, of near Kamrar; three sons, Cecil, from north of this city; Lloyd, of Fort Dodge and Woodrow at home; three grandchildren, Gerald and Dorothy Gerber and Colene Ruth Scheppler; her mother, Mrs. Bauer; two sisters, Mrs. V.M. Chalfant and Mrs. George I. Worthington, both of Webster City, and one brother, Carl Bauer, also of this city.

Mrs. Gerber will be greatly missed by her family and her host of friends. She was a faithful wife, a kind and devoted mother and a friend of all who knew her.
