FRED A. GERBER DIES AT HOME

Funeral Here Monday for Kamrar Farmer

Fred A. Gerber, 74, widely-known farmer of the Kamrar community, died at 3 a.m. this morning at his home eight miles southeast of Webster City.

Mr. Gerber had been in poor health the past six weeks, suffering from heart trouble.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Foster funeral home with the Rev. Cyril B. Ashton of Kamrar officiating. Burial will be at Graceland cemetery.

Fred Arnold Gerber, son of Daniel and Caroline Gerber, was born Feb. 29, 1872 on a farm in Hamilton county near Kamrar. He received his education and grew to manhood in that community.

Mr. Gerber was married Jan. 31, 1900 to Miss Katie Bauer and the couple continued to farm in the Kamrar community. He had lived on the present farm the past 43 years.

Mrs. Gerber preceded him in death in 1932. One son, Merlyn, died in 1931, and one brother, Louis (Lou), died in 1897.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. George Scheppler of Rockford, Iowa; three sons, Lloyd of Storm Lake, Cecil of Webster City and Woodrow of Kamrar and five grandchildren, Gerald Gerber, who is serving with the armed forces in Japan and Dorothy Gerber of Storm Lake, Coleen, Robert and Maxine Scheppler of Rockford. Also surviving are three brothers and three sisters: Charles of Webster City, Henry of Kamrar, Daniel of Alberta, Sak., Can., Mrs. Minnie Kirchner of Webster City, Mrs. Katie Butler of Waubay, S.D., and Mrs. Anna Evans of Aberdeen, S.D.

Mr. Gerber was baptized in the Methodist faith and was a faithful member of the Methodist church at Kamrar, being very active in church work. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America.
