Roy Carnell, 84, Stratford

LeRoy "Roy" Carnell, 84, Stratford, died Sunday, May 17, 1998 at Boone County Hospital in Boone. Services will held on Friday at 10 AM at the Calvary United Methodist Church in Stratford, with Rev. Dale Schoening officiating. Interment will be in South Marion Cemetery in Stratford. Presentation of the flag will be by the American Legion Frederick Sonksen Post of Stratford. Friends may call at the Stark-Welin Funeral Home in Stratford on Thursday from 7 to 9 P.M. and at the Church on Friday from 8:30 am until the time of the service.

Roy Carnell, son of Harry and Martha (Wagner) Carnell, was born April 12, 1914 in Radcliffe. He attended school at Radcliffe and was a veteran of World War II, serving as a cook with the U.S. Air Force in the Philippines and New Guinea from 1941 to 1945. On June 25, 1957, he married Wilma Shoberg Erickson at the Calvary United Methodist Church in Stratford. He was a service station attendant and rural gas transporter for the Leonard Johnson Oil Company while living in Radcliffe. While living in Stratford, he was employed by the Stratford Co-op and Ira Mitchell's Phillips 66 Station as a service station attendant.

He is survived by his wife; one step-son, Ivyl Erickson and wife Mary, Simi Valley, Calif.; several step-grandchildren; step-great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Walter, Ernest, and George; and a step-son, Duane Erickson.

Mr. Carnell was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church and a past member of the American Legion Frederick Sonksen Post of Stratford.

Memorial be given to the American lung Association or American Diabetes Association.
