Juanita Marie Burton (Brandt) was born on September 4, 1935 in Eldora, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Clara (Triebsch) Brandt. They moved to Iowa Falls during her early education years. She worked as a waitress at the Red Rooster Cafe where she met her future husband, James "Stan" Burton and were married on June 25, 1955, in her parents' home. They made their home on a farm just southeast of Williams where they raised two children, Mike and Lilah. She was a homemaker, farmer's wife, and Sunday School teacher at the Methodist Church in Williams. In the early 1980’s she earned her "Home Health Aide" certificate from Drake University, which she was very proud of. Nita and Stan traveled the United States (mainly through tractor pulling) and to England, Germany, Greece, Rome, Spain, Rio de Janeiro, and a cruise in the Caribbean. She loved to sew and made several dresses for towns people when Williams had their centennial.

Nita loved butterflies and had quite a collection, playing bingo, being barefoot, and telling stories. She played in a card club that met for many years in their neighborhood. Her CB handle was "Butterfly Lady". She was a member of the Missionary Alliance Church in Blairsburg where she took many bible study classes. She was a Girl Scout leader and was an active member of the Williams Legion Auxiliary, and helped organize and led the girls Jr. Auxiliary. During the 4th of July celebration in Williams, she ran a Nickel Toss and Fish Pond stand for the Lion's Club, where people of any age just loved the chance to win a pretty dish/glass or small toy, and when she had to stop running it, it was dearly missed.

Nita cherished becoming a grandmother to: Amanda (Mark) Gehling, Emery (Josh) Tew, Landon (Deb) Burton, Lucas (McKenzie) Burton, Nickolas (Darlene) Joss, and Ryan Joss; and great-grandchildren, Allen Burton; Brooklyn, Ashlynn, and Josiah Gehling; Asa, Franklin, Robert and Evan Tew; Chase and Kendra Joss; and Alieda Burton.

She is survived by her son, Mike (Charlene) Burton of Williams; a daughter, Lilah (Terry) Joss of Des Moines; a “baby” brother, Monte Brandt of Coconut Creek, FL; two brothers-in-law, Floyd (Marie) Burton and Jerry (Judy) Burton; and many dearly loved nieces and nephews (all were her “favorite” ones.)

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Verl Brandt; and her former husband Stan, who passed away on August 31, 2001.
