Marvin Carpenter, 84, of Webster City, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Southfield Wellness Community. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Patrick Wiedemeier officiating. Burial will be held at Graceland Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at the church.

Marvin Eugene Carpenter, son of Walter and Florence Miller Carpenter, was born April 11, 1933 in Eagle Grove. He graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1951 and received an Associates Degree from Eagle GroveJunior College. Marvin served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. He married Barbara Mesecher on February 16, 1958 in Fort Dodge. Marvin was a self-employed mason for over 55 years.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Barbara of Webster City; children, Vicki (Joe) Meyer of Fort Dodge, Dave (Trisha) Carpenter, Rob (Diana) Carpenter, Steve Carpenter; all of Webster City; seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Jeremiah) Condon, Mitchell (Chelsie) Carpenter, Kevin Ryan, Tyler Carpenter, Ashley (Thomas) Throntveit, Megan Carpenter, Austin Carpenter; three great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Linda (Larry) Lundy of Webster City, Darlene Mesecher of Fort Dodge, and Linda Mesecher of Nevada and many extended family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Ricky Carpenter; grandsons, Matthew and Mark Carpenter; brother, Russell Carpenter; sister, Mildred Kiley; brothers-in-law, Roger Mesecher, Larry Mesecher, and Ronnie Mesecher.

Marvin was a member of First Baptist Church, the American Legion Post 191 and a former member of the Moose Family Center. He enjoyed golfing, playing cards, cheering on the Lynx, Hawkeyes and St. Louis Cardinals, hunting and working but most of all, spending time with his family.
