Gayle (Flygstad) Torgerson of Jewell, Iowa passed away on July 27, 2017 at the Israel Hospice House in Ames, Iowa. Gayle had been battling ovarian cancer. She was 65 years old.

Gayle was born to parents, Lois [Barkema] and Donald Flygstad, on November 28, 1951 in Webster City, Iowa. She attended Webster City Schools and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1970.

Gayle married her high school sweetheart, Lowell Torgerson, in June of 1970. They resided in Ellsworth and Jewell, Iowa.

Gayle worked at East Lane Manor nursing home in Jewell, Iowa for ten years. She also worked at Bethany Manor in Story City, Iowa for many years. She returned to school at Iowa Community College receiving an Associate Degree in Business. After her degree Gayle worked at CDS in Boone, Iowa for many years. Gayle enjoyed reading, bowling and attending her grandchildren's events.

Gayle is survived by her husband of 47 years, Lowell Torgerson; her daughter, Jennnifer Torgerson Delegard and her fiance, Kyle Miller; her son Jayme Torgerson and his wife, Jessica Torgerson; her father Donald Flygstad; her sister Diane Flygstad Delegard; stepsister Carolyn Frette Anderson; stepbrother Don Frette; brothers-in-law Delbert and Roger Torgerson; five grandchildren: Micheal, David, Samuel, Rebekah and Izzabella; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lois Flygstad Aegerter; stepmother, Erma Flygstad; nephew, Glenn Mitchell; and sister-in-law, Beulah Torgerson.

Visitation for Gayle will be at Soderstrum's Funeral Home in Jewell, Iowa on Friday, August 11, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 12th at Trinity Lutheran Church, Ellworth, Iowa, at 10:00 a.m. A lunch will be served following the service.

Burial, by cremation, will also be held after her service at Greenwood Cemetery in Ellsworth, Iowa.
