South Hamilton Record News, Jewell, Iowa, June 21, 2017

Cyril Francis Clark, age 89, of Ames died June 12, 2017 at Merle West Medical Center in Ames. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 24th at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell and funeral services will start at 11:00 a.m. Private burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Jewell.

Cyril was born on May 31, 1928 to John and Ellen Clark in Delhi, Iowa and spent his first 16 years of life in the Independence, Iowa area. Cyril served in the army from 1946 to 1952, stationed in Germany for most of his tour. Cyril married Elizabeth (Betty) Olson on October 3, 1952 and they lived in Jewell, Iowa until 2008.

Cyril worked at Land-O-Lakes in Ellsworth, Iowa for 20 years. He also worked for several years for his brother as a heavy equipment operator building bridges across Iowa and it was a favorite hobby of his to point out bridges he worked on every time he drove over them. Cyril also worked with International Harvester and Jerry Johnson Excavating.

Cyril is survived by his three children, Steven of Sioux City, Randy (Vera) of Custer, Washington and Shawna Carter of Farnhamville; eight grandchildren, Megan Williamson, Alexander Clark, Jennifer Jennings Oberhokamp, Camie Clark, Kira (Chris) Reid, Jackson Clark, Calvin Clark, Ryan Carter and step granddaughter Katrina Burgess; eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Cyril was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years; parents (John and Ellen); three sons (Kim, David and Dana Clark), five brothers (Charles, Jay, Galen, Merlin & Francis) and three sisters (Mary, Eugenia, Dorothy and Salina).
