Daniel Arthur Solberg, Sr., of Jewell, Iowa, passed away on December 21, 2016 at age 77. Memorial services were held on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell.

Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Clemma Solberg.

He is survived by his wife, Anita (Bernice); a sister Cathleen Bordwell; and six children - Daniel Solberg, Jr. (Jill), Donna Solberg, Steven Solberg (Annette), all of Omaha, NE., Deborah Evans of Missouri Valley, IA, Kimberley (Michael) Levesque of Douglasville, GA., and Andrea (Andrew) Clemmensen of Waukee, IA. He also leaves nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Daniel entered the United States Navy in 1958, serving until 1977, and retiring at the rank of Sr. Chief Petty Officer. After retirement, Daniel and Bernice returned to Jewell. He owned and operated the Phillips 66 station for many years, and was a distributor for Waste Oil Furnace before "totally" retiring in 2007. He and Bernice were also fortunate enough to travel around the world for 10 years. They have cultivated many, many good friends in Jewell and around the country.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Daniel's memory to the Jewell Montgomery Memorial Library or the Jewell Golf and Country Club.

Soderstrum-Reimers Funeral Home in Jewell is entrusted with arrangements.
