Dean K Swanson, 86, formerly of Williams, Iowa died on Thursday, January 4, 2018, in Des Moines, Iowa. Visitation will be on Sunday, January 7, at the St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Williams, Iowa from 3:00 – 5:00 PM. Funeral Service will be 10:30 AM on Monday January 8, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Williams. The family has chosen Boman Funeral Home (www.bomanfh.com) to care for their needs.

Dean was born on August 20, 1931, in Forest City, Iowa to Alvin and Ida Mae (Eliason) Swanson. He graduated from Forest City High School. He married Frances Johnson on September 27, 1951, in Forest City, Iowa. Dean served in the US Army during the Korean War from November 1952 until October 1954, attaining the rank of Corporal. He farmed near Forest City, Fertile, Ventura, Renwick and Williams Iowa.

Dean was a member of the American Legion, the VFW and St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Williams, Iowa. He enjoyed restoring farm tractors and collecting model tractors. He was very proud of his five daughters and loved spending time with his family.

Those left to cherish his memory are: His wife Frances of Marshalltown, IA; five daughters: Dianne (Kim) Greenfield of Clive, IA, Pamela (Chris) Burtnett of Algona, IA, Cynthia (Allan) Mohling, of Sunrise Beach, MO, Donna (Mitch) Yeager of Grimes, IA, and Karen (Shane) Foster of Prior Lake, MN; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Larry and Gerald; sister Gloria; and grandson Blake Foster.

Memorials may be designated to the Iowa Veterans Home.
