THE PASSING OF ENOCH OAKLAND

Dies at Farm Home Two Miles South of Blairsburg - Sixty-Four Years of Age

Enoch Oakland died yesterday at his home two miles south of Blairsburg following a lingering illness caused from anaemia. Mr. Oakland had been sick for quite a while, taking to his bed for the last time in August.

Enoch T. Oakland was born in Norway, March 15, 1849, and was therefore 64 years and six months of age. He came to this country from Norway about forty years ago and settled in Oak county in the northern part of Illinois. He resided in Illinois for about ten years when he removed to Hamilton county, settling near Blairsburg. Some time ago the family resided in this city for two years, but the remainder of the time they have lived in this county was spent on his farm near Blairsburg. He was well known in that section and was very highly regarded by all within the circle of his acquaintance.

Mr. Oakland leaves a wife and three children - Mrs. L.E. Jaycox, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Mrs. S.T. Neveln, Storm Lake; William Oakland, Blairsburg. The wife and daughter, Mrs. Jaycox, and son, William Oakland, were at his bedside at the time of his death. The other daughter, Mrs. Neveln, arrived here today from her home in Storm Lake.

The funeral services will be held from the Congregational church in Blairsburg tomorrow afternoon at two o'clock and will be conducted by Rev. Walter Metcalf, pastor of the church in that place, interment will be made in the Blairsburg cemetery.

[she was the former Mary Erickson, married Enoch Oakland September 24, 1875 and died June 4, 1927]
