John Marvel, 72, died comfortably on May 6, 2017, at his home in Aurora, CO.

John E. Marvel, son of John Wasson and Janet Eleanor Evans Marvel, was born on January 22, 1945, at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C. At two years of age he and his family moved to Webster City, IA. He was a proud alumnus of Webster City High School, Class of 1963, and graduated from Morningside College in Sioux City with degrees in livestock marketing and history. He worked in sales for ICX, Yellow Freight, Ideal, and retired from Colorado Petroleum.

In February 1964, John was united in marriage with Karen Daniels of Clarion. Their marriage was blessed with two sons, John E. II and Micheal James. They later divorced. John and Judi Snyder were united in marriage on May 21, 1983, and John was blessed to gain two more children, Steven and Stacey.

John was a proud Shriner and served on the Toll Gate Community Board during his retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Judi (aka Jud or Red), two sons, John Marvel II and Steven (Carissa) Snyder, daughter Stacey Marvel-Mills (T.J.), and daughter-in-law Rowena Marvel. He is also survived by his grandchildren, James Marvel, Dee Newvahner, Ellie Marvel, Zach (Lisa) Snyder, Jeremy Snyder, Colton Snyder, and Jossie Snyder, his sister Judy (Tom) McLaughlin and brother Jim (Judy) Marvel and loyal canine companions Rusty and Lady.

He was preceded in death by both parents and his son Michael in November 2016.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Heritage Eagle Bend, Aurora, CO.
